The cottage is set in the heart of the Loire Valley and well located for visiting the ancient Loire Châteaux or tasting the many celebrated Loire wines.

Situated to the west of Linières-Bouton between the forest of Loroux and the forest of Pont Menard, we are centrally located and just 9kms from the towns of Noyant, Vernantes, Vernoil and Mouliherne These towns all have boulangeries, chemists and supermarkets in Vernoil and Noyant.

Although being a small hamlet, Linières-Bouton has some princely history as Louis, Prince Napoléon married Alix de Foresta on the 16th August 1949 in our lovely church. Their son Prince Charles Marie Jerôme Victor, b. 19th October 1950 claims headship of the House of Bonaparte and the title Prince Napoléon.

To the south of us, 28kms - 30 mins drive, is the large town of Saumur, very popular with international tourists due to its location on the Loire river, plenty of parking, some free near the cavalry school, and with level walking for access to its many restaurants, shops, a château and museums.

Home to the Cadre Noir, the national School of Horsemanship who provide shows during the year and the Cavalry Armoured branch and training school for Officers.

During the summer season many activities are organised, from Show Jumping, Military Music Festivals, Giant mask parades, Vintage cycle/costume rides, Grand Prix of older racing cars to a large wine tasting Les Grandes Tablées du Saumur-Champigny where up to 9,000 people will enjoy open air music and wine tasting.

Because the region is reasonably flat, it is an area very popular with cyclists be they just out for a leisurely ride or more serious and clad in tight lycra out in club groups.

All of this and more... Châteaux, markets, wine tastings, mushroom caves, kayaks and for further afield see Attraction two
